Who We Are

Minnesota Theater Love are two sisters and one good friend who, one evening after being enraptured by a performance of Kneehigh Theatre's Tristan and Isolde at the Guthrie Theater, decided that we needed a way to share our love of Minnesota theater with our community.

We are so, so lucky to live in the Twin Cities and to have such a marvelous, vibrant theater scene. Our goal is to share our love of Minnesota theater, direct our friends and readers to some truly amazing performances, and help bring more attention to the talented people who make up Twin Cities and Minnesota theater. Hence, Minnesota Theater Love.

We started writing this blog in 2014 and have seen some amazing theater over the years. We also have met up with some amazing theater lovers and bloggers via the Twin Cities Theater Bloggers.

So here's a bit about us:

Carly - aka Carol - I'm a librarian who developed my great love of theater from my sister Julie, who took me to NYC to see my first Broadway show (Hairspray--John Waters's amazing movie on stage?  I had to see it!) in 2002.

We'd seen theater as a family since we were very young; I was pretty sure I'd seen the original cast of The Sound of Music but as that was several decades before I was born, I'm guessing it's one of those memories I made up.  I love musicals and shows that are 90 minutes with no intermission.  And Minnesota theater!

Jules - aka Julie - I remember that production of The Sound of Music! The Captain was played by a gentleman from our church, and I think we had to leave the suburbs to see it!

I love musicals, was a techie in high school, and started performing in community theater after college. I've done backstage, box office, admin, and front of house jobs at a number of theaters around town. I love taking trips to NYC and other places to see shows, and I enjoy discovering new works at small theaters here in the Cities. I feel really fortunate to live in a place with so much great theater!

The third founding member of Minnesota Theater Love was our friend Keith - aka KRL - who is now writing his own blog, Life in Revue. Check it out!
